Hoy vs Flats: Sporting Stars Go Head-To-Head at the Caterham Drive Experience

Ex-England rugby star David ‘Flats’ Flatman and six-times Olympic cycling champion and Caterham Ambassador, Sir Chris Hoy, have gone head-to-head at our newly launched Caterham Drive Experience (CDX) operated by MotorsportSport Vision (MSV) at Brands Hatch.

Based at one of the UK’s best-loved circuits, the 2019 Caterham Drive Experience gets you behind the wheel of a Caterham Seven 270 for an unforgettable day of driving.  There’s a choice of drift and track-based activities, so whether it's sliding sideways, or setting the fastest lap, there is something for everyone

For Sir Chris and Flats, we kicked things off with a bespoke handling course created by the CDX team - which required the pair to complete drifts, slaloms and donuts in the fastest time possible.  After a tense morning of practice, plenty of banter, some healthy competition and some slightly damaged rear wings, the attention turned to the final timed runs.

By the end of the timed sessions, it was just 1 second that separated the two sporting legends.  You can see the pair doing CDX battle here

David Ridley, Commercial Director for Caterham, said: “What better way to kick off our recently launched partnership with MSV than to have two of our famous friends of the Caterham brand come and try out the experience and have a bit of fun at the same time.

“We’ve always said that, to truly understand the Caterham Seven, you have to drive it. Sir Chris has not only driven our cars but raced them, so he already gets it but, for Flats, this was an introduction and he took to it brilliantly and, naturally, said he loved the experience.”
