COVID-19: Caterham® November Lockdown Update

As the well-known Swedish band once said, “Here We Go Again”.  Yes, here comes the unwelcomed second album, Lockdown 2.0, but this time we’re ready to take it on and show it who’s boss.

Following the latest guidance there will be a few changes to the way we run things at Caterham® for the next few weeks.  However, we’ve made sure to continue a normal service where we can, and have made improvements to accommodate greater online support. You can take advantage of our live chat function (bottom right corner) too, for any questions you may have.

There are plenty of things to update you on, so below is a quick run through of everything we’ll be doing to keep things on track.  Our recommendation is always to speak to your local retailer in the first instance, however, please feel free to reach out to us through the website and social media.

Enough from us now, read on below for some of the exciting changes we’ve made…  sorry though, still no airbags or traction control.

 

Virtual Showroom

Probably the only time we’ll ever tell you not to pop along for a cuppa, however there are some benefits to this – for starters, when did you last enjoy a gin while looking for a new car? Exactly.

Our UK retail sites are having to close to the public – so instead we’ll be operating a virtual showroom, allowing you to reserve a Seven online with a quick call to any of our retailers. 

To ensure you can still get behind the wheel of a Seven, we’re now offering Click & Collect and Home Delivery services, read on to find out more….

 

Click & Collect

At the risk of sounding like a supermarket, why not buy online and have your new purchase ready and waiting for its collection.

We’ll be facilitating payments and deposits over the phone to ensure you can still get the Seven you want.  All you need to do is pop along to one of our sites for a zero-contact handover.

These will be outside, so wrap up warm.

 

Home Delivery  

Buying a new or used car should be as easy as ordering your groceries… or something off Amazon that you 100%, definitely, really, totally needed.

So, to do some of that modern online ordering stuff – we’re now running a home delivery service for those who are unable to travel.  Either directly from the factory for new cars, or from the showroom for used cars - we’ll make sure to get your new or used Seven to you in a jiffy.  

 

Reserving A Used Seven

If you spot a Seven you like the look of, let your local retailer know and they’ll be able to reserve it for you.  A deposit will be required to hold the car.

No, we can’t take a car off the website without a deposit – we still build cars in small numbers and there’s always high demand… does that sound smug? Probably. Meh.   

 

New Fully Built or Self-Assembly Seven Deliveries

Good news, things are continuing as normal here!  If you are due to receive your new fully built or self-assembly Caterham® Seven, we will be delivering these directly to your home, taking precautions to ensure the delivery is contact free, socially distanced and completed as safely as possible.

Aftersales

If you’re one of those lucky people who already own a Seven, we have even more good news. We are continuing to operate our usual aftersales services.  These include servicing, MOTs, vehicle upgrades, IVA checks, repairs and restorations. 

 

Vehicle Handovers

You will need to bring your car to one of our service centres, unless in exceptional circumstances where we may be able to facilitate collection and delivery.  Ahead of your visit, a member of staff will explain the new procedures.

Only one member of staff will be working on a vehicle to minimise contact, ensuring it is fully sanitised before collection.  If you could sanitise your vehicle before hand and wear a mask while driving it over, it would be really appreciated.

 

IVA Testing

Please note, we have no control over IVA testing or availability slots.  You will need to speak with your local centre to understand how they are operating.  We will still be able to check your vehicle ahead of testing to ensure it meets the standards and requirements. 

 

Parts

Our parts store will continue to operate with an online-only function, and our team will be available to talk to you if you have any enquiries.  Please note, as demand is likely to be higher than usual, deliveries may take a little longer than normal.
